Compiled from The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global Deigital Elevation Model (GDEM) V2. One caveat of this dataset is the presence of often numerous artifacts and "outliers" that require manual repair, which FSGenesis has done. Though as with any human intervention, there may be the occasional cosmetic issue not discovered in testing. That said, most if not all "show-stoppers" have been addressed.

Featuring 19.2m resolution for the entire country, border to border, with a 0.1 degree border buffer (default resolution is 612m), FSGenesis ASTERMesh will bring familiar simulated detail to all those spectacular topographical features known by the native people. Anywhere in the country, go there on your desktop. Simply add to cart, checkout, download, install, and you'll soon be on your way to new adventures through spectacular terrain!

Technically, this product has been derived from the 30m ASTER GDEM V2 (corrected in-house where anomalies were found).then compiled into LOD11 (19.1m) and LOD10 (38.2m) BGL files. Best results are obtained when also using the FSGenesis Global Coverage products and the FSGenesis Continental products for the region covered by these files.

What is Terrain Mesh?
The world is not flat…it comprises mountains, valleys, rolling plains, etc. I.E. topographical features. These bumps, dips, and flat areas all need to be translated into a surface understood by your flight simulator. Terrain Mesh is the name given to the Digital Elevation Model, (DEM), that represents these topographical features. This is the surface of the earth over which the user flies in the simulator (or crashes into!) For more than a decade, FSGenesis has been the leader in highly realistic, high resolution terrain mesh for flight simulator. So to make your simulator world and scenery as realistic as possible, you need terrain mesh!
