Paro, Bhutan is widely considered as being the hardest and most dangerous approach in the world. Far more difficult than St. Maarten or Madeira, even more difficult than the legendary Hong Kong Kai Tak which has long ago been shut down. Without any navigational aids like ILS or PAPI all you have for your journey down the small valley high up in the Himalayan mountains is your own pilot skills and the knowledge that you’re one of the only eight (8!) priviledged pilots allowed to land at this beautiful place.
Once you’ve touched down on the runway of Paro you can’t stop being amazed at the beauty of the airport’s architecture that makes this place as much an art gallery as it is a transportation facility.

Operated flights:

  • Drukair, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bhutan, operates the airport of Paro with Airbus A319 aircraft on regular schedules to Jakar, Bagdogra, Bangkik, Dehli, Dhaka, Gaya, Guwahati, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Mumbai and even Singapore.
  • In 2013, a new private airline, Tashi Air, was founded and stationed its two A319 at Paro. They currently fly to Dehli, Kolkata, Kathmandu and Bangkok.
  • Additional charter flights visit Paro to bring tourists from Kathmandu and other airports in the area.
